Our Eye Doctors

After 27 years of experience, Dr. Brunswick is happy to open her own private practice. She has extensive experience in retail and private setting optometry. She is a graduate of Coldwater High School and completed her undergraduate studies at Bowling Green State University. She then completed her doctorate of optometry at the Ohio State University. During her training, Dr. Brunswick completed an internship at the Dayton VA and had the opportunity to work with various eye threatening diseases along with renouned ophthalmologists in the field. In addition to her expertise, Dr. Brunswick has extensive training in low vision and has worked with the Agency on Aging to assist patients who are legally blind to see better with the use of high technology lenses, telesopes, magnifiers, and closed circuit televisions. Dr. Brunswick has a passion for helping patients with their vision and giving them the best quality of life possible. Dr. Brunswick is involved with many professional organizations in her field. She is a member of the American Optometric Association, and the Ohio Optometric Association. In 2009, Vision Source selected Dr. Brunswick as one of the top 3 premier practices in the United States and Canada. She has also been named to the "Who's Who Among American Optometrists."

Dr. Brunswick has been chosen to be a member of Vision Source which consist of approximately 3,000 private practice optometrist nationally. Being an exclusive member to this group allows our practice to offer high technology at discounted prices. Vision Source and Brunswick Eye offer exclusive TruClear HD lenses for eyeglasses which are similar to looking at high definition television. These high technology lenses are only available in Defiance at Brunswick Eye and Contact Lens Center. Involvement with this group has allowed Dr. Brunswick to implement the highest technology and state of the art equipment to ensure that no eye pathology is left undetected. You will experience this technology during the visit to the office. Dr. Brunswick is actively involved with St. Mary's Catholic Church. Her faith is a big part of her philosophy to the practice.

She is blessed to have her husband, John Shaw, and is the proud mother of three beautiful children, Bradyn, Cody, and Sophia.

Defiance native, Dr. Heidi Lacey, is pleased to join Brunswick Eye and Contact Lens Center and is excited to offer her expertise in the field of eye care to her hometown. Dr. Lacey practiced in Ft. Wayne, Indiana 8 years and joined Brunswick Eye and Contact Lens Center in 2011. Dr. Lacey is a graduate of Defiance High School and Defiance College. She obtained her doctorate of optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry. During her schooling, she completed internships at the Ft. Wayne VA and other optometry/ophthalmology practices which helped to mold her passion for eye care. She is pleased to provide high quality care in numerous areas including eyeglasses, contact lenses for all ages, diagnosis, management, and treatment of eye diseases including macular degeneration, diabetes-related eye disease, glaucoma, cataracts and various red eye issues.

Quality, compassionate, patient-based care is of the upmost importance to Dr. Lacey. She is excited to be back in Defiance to provide this care to her hometown. She is thrilled to be a part of a rapidly growing practice with such high standards and looks forward to playing a valuable role in its continued success.

Dr. Lacey is married to Defiance native, Steve Lacey and is the proud mother of two daughters, Lilly and Piper.

Brunswick Eye and Contact Lens Center welcomes Dr. Lauren Yovich to the office!!! We are thrilled to have her! Dr. Yovich is no stranger to the office. She began Shadowing Dr. Lacey while she was an undergraduate in college back in 2015, which lead to a position as an optometric technician responsible for glaucoma testing in the office. She graduated from Defiance College, and recieved her Doctorate of Optometry from Indiana University College of Optometry. While in optometry school, Dr. Yovich completed externships at the Ft. Wayne VA, the Quantico Naval Base, and various private optometric practices.

In our office, Dr. Yovich is the leader of the Vision Therapy program helping children with eye teaming issues teaching them to use their eyes together more efficiently with eye exercises. She is also proficient in diagnosing and treating glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, red eye, and prescribing glasses and contact lenses. If your child is struggling in school with reading, eyestrain, headaches, switching letters/words around, or reading comprehension, then make and appointment with Dr. Yovich! She will do a comprehensive sensorimotor exam to determine if your child needs vision therapy! There is a 95% success rate with children that go through the vision therapy program.

In her spare time, Dr. Yovich enjoys cooking new recipes, gardening, watching sports (especially tennis), and chasing around her rambunctious cat Jimmy.
